The Journey Of a Banyan & Birch Piece
Our Craft
We work with India's age-old handcrafted techniques to create our pieces. Currently, we’ve started with hand-block printing, screen printing, embroidery, and weaving—each done by skilled artisans.
Here’s a closer look at these processes.

Hand-Block Printing
At Banyan & Birch, most of our products are crafted using the hand-block printing technique. An intricate process where master artisans carve designs onto wooden blocks, then stamp them onto fabric. Each piece is unique, with colors carefully mixed and patterns printed by hand, a process that can take days or even weeks to complete.
The time, patience, and skill behind every piece reflect the dedication and love poured into creating the products you bring into your home.
Hand-Screen printing
Another technique we use to bring our designs to life is hand-screen printing—a process that allows for intricate details and larger-scale patterns.
Our designs are first converted into stenciled screens by our artisans in Maharashtra. The screen acts as a negative, allowing the mixed dye to be pushed through with a rubber blade, imprinting the fabric with precision.
