How to care for your handcrafted fabrics

Making things last is one of the simplest ways to be sustainable.
Natural fabrics last a long time when treated right, so we’ve put together a simple care guide to keep your linens fresh, season after season.

washing

  • Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent for best results.

  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle, using cold water and mild detergent only.

  • Avoid hot water and strong detergents as it can cause dark colors to bleed and weaken natural fibers.

  • Avoid scrubbing. A gentle soak and light hand rub are enough.

  • For stains, lightly dab the area with warm water to loosen the dirt.

  • Do not soak or leave the fabric wet for long, as it may lead to color bleeding or shrinkage.

  • Always wash dark and light colors separately.

  • Never use bleach—it damages fibers and can alter the color of dyed fabrics.

  • Professional dry cleaning is also another safe option as it helps preserve the richness of the fabric and colors without the risk of bleeding or damage.

drying

  • Do not wring—natural fabrics are delicate and wringing can weaken the fibers.

  • Avoid tumble drying as it can make the fabric stiff.

  • Line dry in the shade, with the printed side facing inwards.

  • Avoid drying in direct sunlight, as it can cause the colors to fade quickly.

ironing

Most of our products, especially linens, don’t need much ironing because linen naturally has soft creases that add to its charm. Iron only if needed.

  • For everyday use, only iron if needed—and always on a medium heat setting.

  • Always iron on the reverse side of the print to avoid fading or color smudging.

  • For stubborn linen creases, lightly spray with water and place a cloth between the iron and fabric for added protection.

extra pro-tips

  • Don't leave stained fabrics for days. Spot clean stains immediately with mild soap and warm water to remove stains effectively.

  • To reduce wrinkles, give your linen a good shake after washing and hang it up to air dry. The fabric will relax under its own weight, keeping creases to a minimum.

  • When storing, fold your linens neatly with as few creases as possible or better yet, roll them up! It saves space and keeps the wrinkles away. Win-win!

A little care goes a long way.

These aren’t just linens—they’re keepsakes in the making. And while the steps might seem like a lot at first, caring for them is simpler than it sounds. Go slow, be gentle, and your fabrics will keep bringing beauty, joy, and a bit of heritage to your home for years to come.
