Founded in July 2023 by Smita Netra, Banyan & Birch was born from a desire to reimagine and revive India’s rich textile traditions for modern homes.
It all started with a single piece: the throw pillow cover. More than just an accent, it became the perfect canvas to showcase India’s craftsmanship while allowing homes to layer and express their style.

These crafts have been passed down through generations, and we are committed to preserving them by supporting the artisans who keep them alive.
While we shape the vision for our designs, it is our artisans who breathe life into them—guiding us on the perfect shades, formats, and techniques to ensure each piece reflects true craftsmanship. Without their skill and dedication, our products wouldn’t be what they are today.
